NIMITYBELLE AND DISTRICT BRASS BAND 1910
Submitted by Leo Powning <lpowning-at-yahoo-com>

The photo is not copyrighted.
I only know two of the persons in the photo but other descendants will be able to identify more. My father, Alphonsus (Alf) Powning is second from left in the front row and his elder brother Silvester (Sil) Powning is second from left in the middle row. Six years later my father was in the AIF in the 34th Btn in the trenches in France after training as a compositor on the Nimitybelle News newspaper. Perhaps he joined up in one of the Snowy Mountains mens recruiting marches which passed through Nimitybelle. I was pleased to see their flag in the Canberra War Memorial museum. I will send a large 2 Megabyte file of the photo to anyone wanting to have a high definition print made. Anyone wanting the large file can email me at
Best wishes,
Leo Powning <lpowning-at-yahoo-com>
