EDWARD CHARLES MINERS

The death occurred in Sydney on 24 April 2005 of Edward Charles Miners, fondly known as Ted, at the age of 85 years. He was the third sibling of a family of nine of Samuel and Edith Miners, formerly on Nimmitabel. He served in New Guinea during the war, and after discharge worked on a property at Molong, where he contracted polio. He spent two years in Prince Alfred Hospital, and then he found work with the Civilian Maimed and Limbless Association sheltered workshop for disabled people.

This workshop was set-up by a husband and wife team, both in wheel chairs. Ted became their outdoor rep. travelling miles in a modified car, with his wheelchair on the roof rack, delivering goods, and helping other handicapped people. Full of determination Ted never let anything get the better of him, and he spent the rest of his life in a wheel chair.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley three sons and two daughters, two sisters Una (Tumut), Doris (Bega) and  brother Ken (Bega).

Cremation took place with Military Honours at Rookwood Crematorium.

Rest in Peace dear brother. Una Brown.
