Martin Hyland
Nimmitabel c.1837

In 1843 Ann Williams married currency-lad Martin Hyland at "Jerrabombera" near Queanbeyan. Martin was born in 1813 at Sydney NSW to Herefordshire convict Thomas Ireland (Duke of Portland 1807) and London convict Elizabeth Payne nee August (Friends 1811). He apparently travelled to the Monaro district in the mid-1830's as he was working as a stockman near Nimmitabel early in 1837. In 1840 he was superintending a cattle run at Ingebyra.

This is a brief summary of the chapter relating to these members of the Williams Family in Carol Baxters's 'The First Fleet Nash Family: A Biographical History'. This chapter will comprise many pages of detailed biographical information in the future publication.Go to Carol Baxters page for more information on Ann Williams and Martin Hyland
