HUGH MUGRIDGE
“Cooma Express”  Aug. 12, 1936,

“Cooma Express” records DEATH of Hugh Mugridge, Dalgety, aged 76. He died in Scottish Hospital , Sydney . Eldest son of late Hugh Muggridge (sic) of Numbla Vale, Dalgety, and was born at Queanbeyan. Came to Cooma with his parents at the age of 7 (1867). His father was a builder and assisted in the building of the old Cooma gaol. Young Hugh also gave a helping hand. His father then selected Rosewood and added to same as time went on. He was a grazier all his life. Was twice married, first to Miss Rosian Whiteman. She died in 1886 leaving him with one son and one daughter , Napoleon Valentine Muggridge of Homebush, and Mrs. Veitch of Speer’s Point; second, Ethel, 3rd daughter of late Thomas Wroe . She died 12 years ago (1924) leaving 5 sons-- Bertram Hugh, Norman George, Nathaniel Wells of Dalgety; James Courtney of Moonbah, Victor Arthur, Dalgety: six daughters – Mrs. E.J. Lay , Haberfield; Mrs. W. H. Packer , Petersham, Mrs. Ray T. Leach, Bungendore; Mrs. John Hedger, Dalgety; Mrs. Sid Taylor, Milson’s Point; and Miss Vivian Muggridge (sic), a teacher at Gunning. One son, Thomas, died in infancy. He is also survived by 4 brothers — James, John, and Harold of Numbla, Arthur of Sydney, and 3 sisters - Mrs Robert Girvan and Mrs. Ralph Whiteman of Numbla, and Mrs. E. W. Parker of Sydney, 33 grand and 2 great grand children. A service was held in St. Paul ’s Cooma. And the remains then taken on to Boloco for burial, where Rev, A. W. Harris officiated. J. F. Allen was undertaker.

ESTHER  ALICE  MUGGRIDGE OR MUGRIDGE . 

May 4 , 1924 ,”Monaro Mercury” records death of Mrs. Esther Alice Muggridge (sic)  , wife of Hugh Muggridge (sic) . Buried at Boloco , Rev .C .Elwin officiating . She was a daughter of Thomas Wroe of Dalgety . Born at Delegate 50 years ago (1870) . Leaves a widower and 11 in family , her daughters being Mrs . Leach of Bungendore , Mrs . Fay , Mrs . Packer , and  Mrs . Taylor of Sydney , Misses Esther and Nina Muggridge (sic) , and sons—Bertram , Norman ,Valdor ,James ,and Nathaniel of Dalgety ; and 6 grandchildren . J. F. Allen undertaker .
