Joshua John Moore
Yangalara Run 1830's

JOSHUA JOHN MOORE was a half pay Lieutenant in the 14th. Regiment of Foot who arrived in New South Wales in October, 1816. He is said to have been the first white settler at Canberra, on the site of which in 1826 he sought to have some land measured. Early in the thirties he had Yangalara Run, one of the three stations then South of Michelago. In 1848 he became a lessee from the Crown of the Numeralla Run of 18,000 acres, extending from the Numaralla River to the Rock Flat Creek.
