Donald McRae

Descendants Report

Kevin Browning writes .....

Can we ask whether any of your readers can assist with a frustrating search we are conducting.

My cousin who, lives in the US, is trying to complete her family tree and had been following the wrong path. Now we are back on track there have been some problem areas, which we know comes with a family search.

We are trying to find information on Donald McRae and his wife Elizabeth, nee Fraser. Donald died at Nimitybelle on 16 August 1906 and was buried in the Nimitybelle Cemetery (Methodist) on 17 August 1906. It appears he may have an unmarked grave as the Monumental Inscriptions - Monaro published in 1982 by the Heraldry and Genealogy Society of Canberra Inc, does not contain any details on him under their Nimmitabel section.

We are wondering whether any of your readers could advise us as to where we might find details on burials in Nimmitabel. Whilst we know Donald is buried there we also assume his wife Elizabeth is interred there as well.

One of their sons, Donald, died at Wagga Wagga on 15 Feb 1936 and part of his obituary (below) shows the early part of the family's life.  Any other information on the McRae's would be appreciated.

Regards
