Laurence Joseph Harnett

LAURENCE JOSEPH HARNETT, born at Rosebrook, Manaro, on 31st October, 1842, was a son of Laurence Harnett, earlier written o - known to Australia, and even beyond it, as Sergeant-at-Arms in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, an office he held from 1874 until his retirement in 1908. Mr. Harnett, during his lifetime, was in the truest sense one of Manaro's pioneers. He was imbued with a passionate love for the mountain country wherein he was born, and never ceased to urge its claims to recognition. He held office under twenty changes of Government and served under the direction of six speakers of the Legislative Assembly. He died on 29th September, 1911.
