On 12th inst last Mr. Wharby’s establishment was supplied with Spirits, obtained from Gray’s – a large quantity having recently been brought there.

(Additional Notes:

Thos McKenzie was Georges stepson not son-in-law and Eliza should be Alicia)

July 31 George Gray in charge of Benj Warbys Station at Bungarby (Bongarby) (Monaroo District) could not tell CCL whether Ben had a licence for it. Erected on Station are Slab Hut and Stockyard and 700 cattle are on run. It is near Mr. Henry Pingcombes residence. Ben lives at Campbelltown.

Hugh McKenzie took over as Sup’t after Thos Woster (Convict via Eliza 3, Arr 18/11/1828 from
London)
was killed in the Melbourne Cattle Yards on 5/10/1844 after being kicked by a steer.

Thomas Woster was the Overlander for the Gray’s and was married to Mary Gray - George and Hannah’s daughter - having married her at Goulburn NSW 7/4/1838 in the presence of her mother. We assume that George was at the wedding also as they were at Bongarby at the time.

The Grays had both The Pelican and Black Dog Creek Stations in North East Victoria. George Henry Gray held the licence for BDC

We have no record of George Snr having a farm at Bringelly, but he did have his own cattle (refer census).

The Crisps were also in the Bongarby area at the same time as the Grays –
