Gentleman standing to the side of the photo without the hat is William Barry husband of Alvina Anastatia Barry. Behind is his brother Joseph Barry, in front of him is Faith Barry and Emma Barry, and the two nuns are Sr Benedict (who was Sr Scholasica's companion) and Magaret Barry (Sr Scholastica). the Gentleman in the hat is James Barry Faith and Emma's Father I think.  All Deceased.	William and Terrence Barry as Altar Boys.
This is a photo of family outside "Glenmore Homestead Moonbah".  My Aunt doesn't know anyone in this photo but I see a canny resemblance of my sister and other members of the family.  Aunt Philomena thinks most of them are Thompson's as James Barry married Sarah Thompson. (3rd Generation) If anyone can enlighted me I would appreciate it.  I am writing to an Aunt who may be able to help with identification.	These are the Children of William and Alvina Barry. Philomena and Terrence weren't born at this stage. 1. William Barry was born in 1792 in County Cork, Ireland, died February 14, 1870 in Moonbah near Jindabyne, NSW¹ at age 78, and was buried February 16, 1870 in St. Thomas' Catholic Church, Moonbah, NSW Grave 113. The cause of his death was Bronchitis - several months.

Burial Notes: The witnesses to William's burial were John Pendergast and John Ward

Notes: William Barry was a convict who arrived at Port Jackson aboard the ship "Recovery" on the 30th July 1823. The ship had sailed from Cork in Ireland on the 5th April 1823 and was her 2nd trip to the colony transporting convicts. The voyage took 116 days. On the 19th February 1823 in the City of Cork Court, William was sentenced to 7 years transportation for "the abuse he gave at the time his wife (since transported) was apprehended for possession of stolen garments"

Following William's arrival in the colony he was assigned to William Cox at Clarendon near Windsor NSW.
As no record has been found, in Ireland, of a marriage of William Barry, it is assumed that his wife, referred to in his court papers, was in fact his common law wfe Margaret Bourke. This could also explain as to why they were both assigned, on their arrival in the colony, to Wiiliam Cox at Clarendon near Windsor and they were married when they completed their 7 years sentences. William was granted his Certificate of Freedom in 1829.
The witnesses to William and Margaret's marriage were James Doyle and John Kenna.
William was illiterate and depended on James for assistance in those areas.

William married Margaret Burke in 1832 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sydney, NSW.^{2 3} Margaret was born in 1802 in County Cork, Ireland, died December 5, 1832 in Cornwallis, Hawkesbury River, Windsor, NSW⁴ at age 30, and was buried December 6, 1832 in Windsor, NSW. The cause of her death was Drowned.

Notes: Margaret was a convict who was transported to Australia aboard the ship "Woodman" which arrived at Port Jackson on the 25th June 1823 after sailing from Cork in Ireland on the 25th January 1823, a voyage of 151 days. She had been tried and convicted of "being in possessession of stolen garments" and sentenced to 7 years transportation.
Following her arrival in the colony, Margaret was assigned to William Cox at Clarenden near Windsor. She was granted her Certificate of Freedom on the 31st August 1829, the same day as William.

Margaret was drowned in the Hawkesbury River near Windsor when she attempted to rescue another woman who was in difficulty. She was buried at Windsor and Father Joseph Docker performed the burial ceremony.

John Barry (William¹) was born in September 1826 in Clarendon, NSW,⁶ was baptised October 29, 1826 in Clarendon, NSW, died March 13, 1897 in Moonbah near Jindabyne, NSW⁷ at age 70, and was buried March 16, 1897 in St. Thomas' Catholic Church, Moonbah, NSW Grave 112. The cause of his death was Aneurism of the aorta.

Notes: The witnesses to John and Lucy's marriage were Christina McDonald and Thomas Shanahan. Thomas Shanahan signed his name on the register and Christina Mcdonald made her mark. The priest who married them was Father Walsh. It is said that they eloped to be married because Lucy's family felt she was marrying beneath herself.
Family history states the Lucy's mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Pendergast, asked John and Lucy to return to the Pendergast family property because it was being let run down. Again according to family history, John agreed, but on his terms, and futher history states the fact of John and Lucy entering back into the Jindabyne/Moonbah district, with a pregnant Lucy on horseback, with 2 small children. Those children would have been John and James, and the baby she was carrying was George who was born in 1860 at Moonbah.
John died at Moonbah and was buried at Moonbah. The witnesses to his burial were William K. Thompson and James John Thompson. The priest who conducted the service was Father James Walton.

Notes: It is believed that Thomas' 2nd marriage to Mary Jane Woodhouse was the 3rd marriage celebrated at St. Thomas' Church, Moonbah NSW on the 23rd June 1895.

Thomas married Emma Cecilia Thompson October 25, 1887 in Cobbin Station near Jindabyne, NSW.,⁹³ daughter of James Thompson and Margaret Kearns. Emma was born April 15, 1868 in Cobbin Station near Jindabyne, NSW,⁹⁴ died February 1, 1888 in Cobbin Station near Jindabyne, NSW⁹⁵ at age 19, and was buried in St. Thomas' Catholic Church, Moonbah, NSW Grave 72. The cause of her death was Burned to death. She lived for 6 weeks.

Marriage Notes: The witness to Thomas and Emma's marriage was George Barry.

Notes: On the day of her death, Emma was doing the washing. In those days the washing was boiled in coppers or cauldrons. Unfortunately she apparantly got too close to the fire under one of the cauldrons and her dress caught on fire. When Thomas returned home he found her very badly burned and she died shortly after.

Thomas next married Mary Jane Woodhouse in June 1895 in Cooma, NSW.,⁹⁶ daughter of William Woodhouse and Elizabeth McKenna. Mary was born in 1873 in Moonbah near Jindabyne, NSW⁹⁷ and died in 1962 in Balmain, NSW⁹⁸ at age 89.

Marriage Notes: It is believed that Thomas' 2nd marriage to Mary Jane Woodhouse was the 3rd marriage celebrated at St. Thomas' Church, Moonbah NSW on the 23rd June 1895.
