First Generation

1. Mary Jane Stimpson, daughter of Brice Stimpson and Ann Fowler, was born on February 8, 1818 in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, England, died on May 28, 1875 in High Plains, Bombala, NSW1 at age 57, and was buried on May 29, 1875 in Aston Cemetery, NSW Grave 3. The cause of her death was Bronchitis.

Notes: Many researchers believe Mary Jane Stimpson was the daughter of Stephen Stimpson & Susan Fowler. Why? Is it because this is the only baptism to be found for a Mary Jane on the IGI at Dunstable. It is to be noted that the baptism is for Mary Janet in 1830. All records in Australia lead researchers to a birth year for Mary Jane of 1818 or 1820. The parish register for Dunstable shows Susan & Stephen's children were baptised too frequently to simply put off Mary's christening for 10 years. Further there was a child baptised to them in in 1818 being Susan & 1820 being Caroline. I have traced the Mary Jane/t born 1830 in each English census to 1881, she remains unmarried, occupation a straw bonnet maker, living Dunstable, born Dunstable 1830.
The information which is irrefutable is given by Mary Jane herself on her marriage to John Smith in 1863. She states her parents are Brice Stimpson a gold beater & Ann Fowler.
