First Generation


1. Johann Peter Lechleiter, son of Peter Carl Lechleiter and Margaretta, was born in 1815 in Feudenheim, Baden, Germany.

More about Johann:

• He immigrated to Australia with family on the vessel "Cesar Goddeffroy" arriving NSW December 11, 1852. Paid £7 bounty on arrival.

• Religion: Protestant.

• Literacy: Could read and write.

• Occupation: Vinedresser.

Johann married Margaretha Biedermann, daughter of Jacob and Margaretta,. Margaretha was born in 1816 in Feudenheim, Baden, Germany and died in 1910 in Bombala, NSW1 at age 94.

• She immigrated to Australia with family on the vessel "Cesar Goddeffroy" arriving NSW December 11, 1852.

• Religion: Protestant.

• Literacy: Could read and write.

John married Mary Manning, daughter of Charles Manning and Eliza McCutcheon, on August 19, 1868 in Bombala, NSW.3 Mary was born on April 8, 1850 in Sydney, NSW,4 was baptised on May 6, 1850 in Sydney, NSW, died on September 8, 1921 in Bombala, NSW5 at age 71, and was buried in Bombala Cemetery, NSW Grave 540.

Children from this marriage were:

   M    i. John Lesleighter was born in 1869 in Bombala, NSW6 and died in 1941 in Bombala, NSW7 at age 72.

John married Emily Louisa Bussman, daughter of George Gustave Bussman and Helen Lassie, in 1923 in Bombala, NSW.8 Emily was born in 1877 in Bombala, NSW9 and died in 1954 in Muswellbrook, NSW10 at age 77.

   M    ii. Charles Peter Lesleighter was born on March 13, 1871 in Bombala, NSW,11 died in November 1933 in Murwillumbah, NSW12 at age 62, and was buried in Murwillumbah Cemetery, NSW.

   M    iii. Henry Lesleighter was born in 1873 in Bombala, NSW13 and died in 1951 in Goulburn, NSW14 at age 78.

   3 M    iv. James David Lesleighter was born in 1876 in Bombala, NSW,15 died on July 31, 1955 in Bombala, NSW16 at age 79, and was buried in Bombala Cemetery, NSW Grave 588.

   M    v. Albert William Lesleighter was born in 1881 in Bombala, NSW17 and died in 1895 in Bombala, NSW18 at age 14.

   M    vi. Arthur Edward Lesleighter was born in 1884 in Bombala, NSW,19 died on September 1, 1918 in France at age 34, and was buried in Peronne Communal Cementery, France. The cause of his death was Killed in action.

3. James David Lesleighter (John2, Johann Peter1) was born in 1876 in Bombala, NSW,15 died on July 31, 1955 in Bombala, NSW16 at age 79, and was buried in Bombala Cemetery, NSW Grave 588.

James married Martha Jane Mangan, daughter of Peter Mangan and Jane Manning, in 1902 in Ashfield, NSW.20 Martha was born in 1878, died on October 20, 1948 in Bombala, NSW21 at age 70, and was buried in Bombala Cemetery, NSW Grave 588.

Children from this marriage were:

   M    i. Murrell R. Lesleighter was born in 1905 in Bombala, NSW.22

   4 M    ii. Frank Vincent Lesleighter was born in 1907 in Bombala, NSW.23

Fourth Generation


4. Frank Vincent Lesleighter (James David3, John2, Johann Peter1) was born in 1907 in Bombala, NSW.23

Frank married Iris May Roberts, daughter of Herbert William Roberts and Anne Kate Groves, in 1938 in Delegate, NSW.24 May was born in 1910 in Bombala, NSW25 and died in 2009 at age 99. She was usually called May.

Children from this marriage were:

   F    i. Gwenith Rosalie Lesleighter .

Gwenith married Maxwell Hillary Alcock, son of Hilary Charles Alcock and Violet Lydia Pearson, in 1959 in Bega, NSW.26 Maxwell died in 2008 in Merimbula, NSW and was buried on January 8, 2008 in Bombala Cemetery, NSW.

   F    ii. Julie Lesleighter .

Julie married Bernard Rea.

   M    iii. Roger Vincent Lesleighter .

Roger married Judith Ann Carter.

   M    iv. Warwick Lesleighter .
