OBITUARY
MRS. JAMES MCMAHON
There passed away on Saturday last, 27 inst. At her home "Bulgundra" Dalgety,
Matilda, widow of the late Mr. James McMahon aged 76 years and 6 months.
Mrs. McMahon has always been a most active woman, but became ill about six months ago, her strength gradually failing during the last few weeks, and she was confined to her bed with bronchitis during the week before her death.
She was born at Aldershot England, on the 8th December 1854 and was the eldest child of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Gatehouse of Cooma.
When she was still an infant, her parents came to Australia in a sailing ship, arriving in Cooma via Bermagui and the Brown Mountain.
On the 6th May 1878, she was married to Mr. James McMahon, who predeceased
her in 1904. They are survived by six sons; James, (Wetherill Park); George, (Jimenbuan); Patrick, (Cunningar); Thomas,( Fairfield) Eugene and John, (Bulgundra); three daughters; Mrs. Alex Gilbert (Dalgety); Mrs. A.H. Thomas (Bateman's Bay); and Rachael (Bulgundra); also 18 grandchildren and two great children. One daughter, Mrs. David Thomas of Dalgety, died two years ago. One step-sister, Miss Phoebe Walters of Fairfield, also survives Mrs. McMahon. A sister-in-law, Mrs. James Gatehouse, passed away at Junee, last Friday and report to her death appears above.
Mrs. McMahon was one of the oldest residents of the Dalgety district, having lived at Bulgundra for 58 years since her marriage, and by reason of her character and her practical charity, she was also one of the most esteemed. She took an active interesting all matters which concerned the district and was an ardent supporter of the R.C. church. In cases of sickness and need, her assistance was always available.
As was to be expected, her funeral on Monday afternoon at Boloko cemetery was very largely attended, many relatives and friends paying their last tribute of respect as her body was laid to rest in the R.C. section there. Rev. Dr. E.J. O'Donnell officiated at the graveside, and Mr. J.F. Allen had charge of the funeral arrangements.

OBITUARY
MRS. JAMES GATEHOUSE
The death took place on Friday 26th June, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. W. Gaudry, George St. Junee, of Isabella ,widow of the late Mr. James Gatehouse, of "Snow Glen" Cooma, at the age of 69 years.
Mrs. Gatehouse was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Scott of Highgate, Rhine Falls.
Deceased was the mother of a family of ten, of whom two sons, George, Wagga and Herbert, Delegate, and five daughters, Mesdames J. Crawford (Ethel), Wagga, W. Gaudry (Hilda) Junee, T. Humphries (Ida) North Sydney, T. Jenkins (Eileen) Cootamundra, and A.R.Johnson (Tot), Casterton, Vic. are still living, also an adopted

One son, James, and two daughters, Vera and Edith, predeacesed their mother some years since.
She had a wide circle of friends in Cooma and district by whom she was held in very high regard.
The funeral took place on Saturday last 27th June, to the Junee General Cemetery in the R.C. section of which the body was laid to rest. Rev. Father Gilby officiated.
Mrs. Gatehouse was a sister- in- law of Mrs. James McMahon of Bulgundra, Dalgety, who died on the 27thJune, and report of whose death appears below.

He was awarded the Military Medal on October 5, 1917. 'On the night of 1/2nd October 1917, Sergeant C.S. JAMIESON was in charge of a PARTY employed in unloading and stacking ammunition at the Battery position East of WESTHOEK. This N.C.O. supervised and completed the unloading and stacking of the ammunition whilst the Battery position and vicinity were being heavily shelled by enemy 5.9" and 8" guns. At this time the ammunition at the battery was short and it was vital that the supply should be maintained. Sergeant JAMIESON's example of courage and devotion to duty deserves special recognition.'
