Notes: Mary's birth was notified by her father, Angus at Cooma NSW on the 11th August 1869. The Registrar was Edward Hewison. Mrs. Martha McDonald was present at the birth.

Mary and Patrick were farming near Kyogle at the time of her death, they had no children.

JOHN COMAN
of Wongaruka, is the third son of William Coman of Eurobodalla, and was born in Condom Moruya, in 1849. Educated in his native town he afterwards entered the employ of his father, whom he assisted in the management and working of a farm. In 1870 he selected a piece of land, on which is erected his present homestead,"Wongaruka" This estate comprises 800 acres. In 1873 Mr. Coman discovered the Bumbo reef, which for two years he worked with profit. He proceeded to Queensland, where, in conjunction with his brothers, he took over the Wyroo Station, of 500 square miles on the lower Diamantina. This they stocked with 800 head of cattle. On disposing of the property to Walter Douglas, they organised an exploring party, and, proceeding westward crossed the Herbert and Hamilton Rivers, penetrating as far as Lake Phillipi, which they discovered. Here they took up to 2000 square miles of territory, which they sold to advantage to Messrs. Parker, Wolsley, and Brown. Going further west, they took up 2500 square miles of country on then an unknown river, which they called Sylvester, and named the station Sandringham.
The subject of this sketch here detached himself from the party to proceed to Blackall, the nearest Lands Office, a distance of 700 miles over then an almost unexplored tract, in order to make the necessary application for the above squatting area. After securing the country he retraced his steps as far as the confluence of the Barcoo and Thompson Rivers, where they form Cooper's creek. Here by arrangement the brothers were to meet, but through unavoidable causes the other members of the family were a month behind the appointed time. He was alone, and felt in sore trouble as to the safety of his brothers, as the natives were at that time waging war against the whites, and also the danger they ran of dying of thirst, from the scarcity of water. The entire party started for their native district. Travelling up the Kiatra Creek then across to the Bulloo, crossing it at Thergamuda, then on to the Wilson, Paroo and Warregoo Rivers - The latter they followed down to the Darling, then along the Darling to Louth, across the back blocks, through Cobar on to the Lachlan at Condobolin, over the Mana Mountain on to Lake Corvel, then up the Bland to the Murrumbidgee Falls on to Wagga Wagga and finally arrived at their native district through Yass. Mr. Coman has since resided on his property at Cobargo. In 1881 he married Elizabeth, fourth daughter of John Collins, of "The Oaks" Candelo.

'Chum' Heffernan Dies
The death occurred in the Moruya Hospital on April 21 of Esmond Francis (Chum) Heffernan after a short illness.
He was 83 years old. Born at 'Glenellen', Moggendoura, he was the second son of Edmund and Ellen Heffernan.
He spent most of his life in Moruya, going to the Convent School then to St. Patricks in Goulburn. He was a keen footballer in his day. He leaves a widow, one daughter Geraldine in Canada, and a son Christopher in Moruya, and six grandchildren. A son Terry predeceased him. He also leaves one sister, Mrs McMullen and four brothers - Linus, Roger, Leo and Austin of Moruya. A sister Alice and brother Jack predeceased him. A requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr Rheinberger, Fr Cleatus, a cousin and Fr Philip Buckley, a nephew. The funeral left the Sacred Heart Church for Moruya cemetery where all 3 read the prayers.

Silver Wedding Anniversary
Mr and Mrs Esmond 'Chum' Heffernan who celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary last Friday, were both born in Moruya and , with the exception of three years spent at Manpower constructions at Wollongong during the war, have spent their whole lives in the district. Mrs Heffernan, nee Philomena Brogan, married Chum at the Sacred Heart Church in 1939. A dinner to them at the Criterion Hotel was attended by Mr Heffernan's three brothers, Roger, Leo and Austin and their wives, and their three children Geraldine, Christopher and Terry, Mr and Mrs Jack Brogan, Mr Pat Brogan and Miss Nell Constable and Miss Helen Brogan.

Mimi Heffernan Dies
The death of Philomena 'Mimi' Heffernan occurred in Moruya Hospital on June 3rd after a short illness. Mimi was the eldest daughter of John and Elizabeth Brogan. Born in 1904 she lived all her life in Moruya except for a brief period in Austinmer in the 1940s. She was educated at the Moruya Convent and later helped with teaching at that school. She also had very happy years as a teacher at the Moggendoura School. Left to mourn her are one daughter, Geraldine in Canada, and one son, Christopher and a daughter-in-law Fay. Also six grand children, one sister, Helen and a brother Adrian. Mimi was predeceased by her husband 'Chum" - Esmond Francis, son Terence and grand daughter Karen, sisters Kathleen, Mrs Josephine Buckley and Mrs Eleanor Booth, and brothers Patrick, Jack and Philip. The death of Kevin Harold ('Connie') Constance occurred on Friday, December 28. He was 82. Late of Meringo Street, Bega, he was predeceased by his wife, Hazel, in 2003. He is survived by his family, Robyn and Colin Beveridge (Bega), Ray and Lynne Constance (Bega ), Peter and Cheryl Constance (Armidale), Brian and Trish Constance (Bega), Bob and Michell e Constance (Armidale), 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and by his sister, Elaine K owalski (ACT).
Mr. Constance's funeral was held by his graveside at the Bega Cemetery on Monday, December 31 .
