1. James Clifford, son of John Clifford and Mary, was born in 1817 in Baltinglass, County Wicklow, Ireland, died on October 28, 1884 in Browns Camp near Delegate, NSW1 at age 67, and was buried in Delegate Cemetery, NSW Grave 141c.
Notes: The memorial headstone to James in the Delegate Cemetery reads:- James Clifford, native of Ireland, died 28 October 1881, aged 67 years, leaving a wife and 10 children to mourn their loss. (The headstone inadvertently gives the wrong age, as their youngest child, Arthur, was only a month old when his father died).

James married Mary Ann Hutchison on November 12, 1856 in Delegate, NSW.2 Mary was born on May 15, 1839 in Rossiville, near Goulburn, NSW,3 died on October 5, 1890 in Browns Camp near Delegate, NSW4 at age 51, and was buried on October 7, 1890 in Delegate Cemetery, NSW Grave 141b. The cause of her death was Stricture of the Bowels.
Notes: Mary Ann & James were married, according to the rites of the Church of England, by the Rev. Edward Forde. The witnesses were William Hutchison and Charles Stuart. James could not write and made his mark. Mary Ann could write and signed her name.
Mary Ann is noted as owning 500 acres of land at Browns Camp, Delegate in the 1881 Land Returns of NSW. The property carried 15 horses, 20 cattle and 530 pigs.
When Mary Ann died, local school children failed to attend the BrownsCamp school for a week, the school teacher, Benjamin Denning, writingto the Education Dept; "I have to report the non-attendance of puils at the above school for the week ending 10th Inst on account of the death of Mrs Clifford. In explanation, I beg to state that there are only seven children now attending the school and they are all very near relatives of the deceased lady. The death took place on Sunday 5th Instant." Mr Denning called on parents but they were all adamant that their children would not attend school that week. He also tried to getthe school together at Corrowong in the latter part of the week, but failed, noting, ".....many of of the pupils live a considerable distance from the school - staying with their friends in the vicinity of theschool during the week scholl is held here and returning to their homes at the end of each school week."
The memorial headstone to Mary Ann & her family in Delegate Cemetery reads:- Mary Ann Clifford, relict of James, died 5 October 1890 aged 51 years; also Christina Rich, second daughter of above, died 2 May 1891 aged 32 years.

Notes: When Peter was born, the following was entered in the Peterhead Parochial Register: 15 Jan 1851, Colin Cameron, Quarrier at Boddom, and Elizabeth Mackenzie, his wife, had a son born 25 Dec 1850 and baptized and named Peter on the 15th January 1851 before these witnesses William Storman and Peter Gall.
Peter, age 4, emigrated to Sydney on the 'Nepaul' Reel 2137,2471. Also travelling on the 'Nepaul' were several other Camerons. Alexander age 26 & family; Eliza, age 28 and family; Allen, age 18; Margaret, age 21 and family, Alexander, age 2, Isabella, an infant and Colin Cameron, age 37 and family.
The memorial headstone in Delegate Cemetery reads:- Peter Cameron died 18 August 1892 aged 42 years; also Eliza Cameron, died 24 July 1890 aged 9 years; also James Cameron, died 17 August 1890 aged 11 years.

Notes: Ellen, or Kate, as she was known, was, according to my grandparents, a lovely girl and a great favourite. They named their daughter Kate after her.
The link between the Hutchison, Woolls-Cobb and Cameron families was strong, with Sarah Hutchison bringing Kate into the world.
Kate and William were married by the Rev. Melchoir George Opper, according to the rites of the Church of England. The witnesses were A C Cameron, M Armstrong and J M McDonald.
