1. Ewen Cameron was born in 1786 in Lochaber, Inverness, Scotland, died on November 9, 1852 in "The Waterholes", Michelago, NSW¹ at age 66, and was buried in St. John's Church of England, Canberra, ACT.

Notes: Ewen was a Shepard, he arrived in Australia in 1836 on the ship "Hooghley" with his wife and eleven children. A Presbyterian family, they came from Lochabar, Invernesshire, Scotland. They were bought out by Charles Campbell who employed them at waterholes, an outstation situated near present day Williamsdale, ACT, on the Monaro Highway. The five sons of the family who came to Australia with their parents remained single, but the six daughters married. At the time of his death on the 9th of November 1852, Ewen Cameron aged 66, was a tenant farmer of George Campbell, his abode being stated as near Micaligo. His funeral service was conducted by Rev. T.H. Wilkinson, officiating minister of ST Johns. On the 150th anniversary of his arrival in Australia, a large gathering of his descendants attended the dedication of his memorial by Archdeacon Ian George, rector of ST Johns, when a piper played a lament. The bronze plaque is inscribed as follows-

Ewen married Helen Johnston, daughter of Robert Johnston and Marjory Thompson, in 1809 in Argyll, Inverness, Scotland. Helen was born in 1783 in Argyll, Inverness, Scotland and died on July 21, 1876 in The Oaks near Queanbeyan, NSW² at age 93.

Notes: Helen, (one of Waterholes Camerons) or Ellen Johnston was the daughter of Robert and Marjory Johnston (nee Thompson). A Presbyterian, she was married to Ewen Cameron in Inverness-shire,Scotland, and became the mother of thirteen children. After their arrival in Australia on the ship "Hooghley" in 1836, the family lived at Waterholes Michelago NSW. Later Helen moved to 'The Oaks, Queanbeyan,where she died on 21 July 1876 aged 92. Her funeral service was conducted by the Rev. P.G. Smith, officiating ministerof St. Johns and a memorial was erected on her grave in 1986.

Mr Andrew Stewart, of Tyrvine, Bibbenluke, died suddenly at his home on New Years morning, aged 73 years. A native of Manero, he had lived here all his life, a fine character, bluff but good natured, a keen lover of horse flesh, he rarely missed a show or race meeting. A widow, two daughters and son are left to mourn. The funeral on Saturday was largely attended, the internment being made in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Bombala.

The couple seemed to have spent some time on a farm near Bermagui on the south coast of NSW.

He made a living selling pianos and pianolas throughout country NSW and supplemented his income by hand colouring portrait photos. He claimed to have been interned as an illegalenemy alien during the WW1 yet his wife died in childbirth in 1917. After WW1 he returned to travelling life and sold radios to property owner in the country areas of NSW

He married again to a Leila Roth in 1921. Leila was a descendant of German settlers near Mudgee NSW. In WW2 he was subject to a number of security investigations due to supposed unpatriotic activities.
