Augustus Arnold
C1856 Bombala

1. Augustus Arnold, son of Augustus Arnold, was born circa 1832 and died in 1897 in Bombala, NSW ¹ at age 65.

Notes: I am told by family that he was French. I also understand that he was reasonably well off, and his wife received an inheritance which permitted them to buy a property.
I also have unsubstantiated reports that he used a "Rose" seal on official documents (strange that a Frenchman would adopt a "Tudor Rose"??) and that he was referred to as "Squire" Arnold. He bought a property near Bibbenluke in the Monaro district of NSW known as "Bald Hills", where he raised sheep and turkeys and grew potatoes, the name of their homestead was "Yarra Banks".

Augustus married Lucy Bennett, daughter of John Bennett and Emily Lowe, in 1855 in C of E Monaro, NSW.² Lucy was born August 16, 1837 in Sydney, NSW and died in 1913 in Bombala, NSW ³ at age 76.

   M    v. George Arnold was born in 1864 in Bombala, NSW ¹³ and died in 1943 in Bega, NSW ¹⁴ at age 79.

   F    vi. Unnamed Arnold was born in 1866 in Bombala, NSW ¹⁵ and died in 1866 in Bombala, NSW.

   M    vii. Lewis Arnold was born in 1868 in Bombala, NSW ¹⁶ and died in 1868 in Bombala, NSW.¹⁷

   4 F    viii. Florence Arnold was born in 1869 in Bombala, NSW ¹⁸ and died in 1951 in Marrickville, NSW ¹⁹ at age 82.

   5 M    ix. Arthur Arnold was born in 1871 in Bombala, NSW ²¹ and died in 1958 in Marrickville, NSW ²² at age 87.

   6 F    x. Annie Arnold was born in 1872 in Bombala, NSW ²⁴ and died in 1963 in Rockdale, NSW ²⁵ at age 91.

   7 M    xi. Louis H Arnold was born in 1874 in Bombala, NSW.²⁷

   F    xii. Esther Ellen Arnold was born in 1876 in Bombala, NSW ²⁹ and died in 1943 in Auburn, NSW ³⁰ at age 67.

She never married and had no children

   8 F    xiii. Louisa Adeline Arnold was born in 1878 in Bombala, NSW ³¹ and died in 1923 in Byron Bay, NSW ³² at age 45.

   F    xiv. Lucy Maud Arnold was born in 1880 in Bombala, NSW.³⁴

   F    xvi. Rosina M Arnold died in 1919 in Bombala, NSW.³⁶

Rebecca married Thomas Howard in 1888 in Bega, NSW.¹⁰

Ruby married John Hawkins in 1916 in Sydney, NSW.⁴³

Ruby next married Frank Marshall Wenham in 1937 in Ryde, NSW.⁴⁴

   F    iii. Pearl Emerald Howard was born in 1895 in Bega, NSW ⁴⁵ and died in 1974 in NSW ⁴⁶ at age 79.

Pearl married Robert Cooper in 1921 in Sydney, NSW.⁴⁷

   F    iv. Vera O V Howard was born in 1897 in Bega, NSW.⁴⁸

   F    v. Daisy Daphne Doris Howard was born in 1899 in Bega, NSW ⁴⁹ and died in 1939 in Ryde, NSW ⁵⁰ at age 40.

   M    viii. Henry J Howard was born circa 1907 in Bega, NSW and died in 1913 in Bega, NSW ⁵⁶ at age 6.

3. Charles Edward Arnold (Augustus¹) was born circa 1862 in Bombala, NSW and died in 1939 in Bega, NSW ¹¹ at age 77.

Charles married Hannah M Haggar, daughter of John Haggar and Helen, in 1902 in Bombala, NSW.¹² Hannah died in 1935 in Bega, NSW.⁵⁷
