1. Simon Covington, son of Simon Covington and Elizabeth Brown, was born on January 30, 1809 in Bedfordshire, England, was baptised in 1809 in St. Paul's Bedford, Bedfordshire, England, died on February 19, 1861 in Pambula, NSW¹ at age 52, and was buried on February 21, 1861 in Pambula Cemetery, NSW. The cause of his death was Paralysis. Another name for Symes was Syms. He was usually called Symes.

Notes: Syms was a 15 year old cabin boy with Charles Darwin on the famous discovery voyage of the Vessel "HMS Beagle".

Covington was impressed by what he saw of Australia and emigrated in 1840. He moved with his family to Pambula by 1854 where he built a brick and stone building in 1857 which contained the town post office, a store and a pub called the Forest Oak Inn. That same building still stands today.
