First Generation


1. Peter Curtis, son of John Curtis and Ann Feaghan, was born in 1811 in NSW,1 died on February 15, 1885 in Cooma, NSW2 at age 74, and was buried in Mittagang Cemetery, Cooma, NSW Grave 137.

Peter married Adela Mary Austin, daughter of Henry Austin and Elizabeth, in 1842 in St. James' Church of England, Sydney, NSW.3 Adela was born in 1818 in NSW,4 died on May 12, 1876 in Cooma, NSW5 at age 58, and was buried in Mittagang Cemetery, Cooma, NSW Grave 137.

   F    i. Agnes C. Curtis was born in 1843 in Cooma, NSW6 and died in 1870 in Cooma, NSW7 at age 27.

   F    ii. Elvira A. Curtis was born in 1845 in Cooma, NSW8 and died in 1929 in Randwick, NSW9 at age 84.

   M    iii. Alfred Austin J. Curtis was born in 1848 in Cooma, NSW,10 died on July 16, 1901 in Cooma, NSW11 at age 53, and was buried in Mittagang Cemetery, Cooma, NSW Grave 137.

   F    iv. Clara Curtis was born in 1851 in Cooma, NSW12 and died in 1859 in Queanbeyan, NSW13 at age 8.

   2 F    v. Lucy Jane Curtis was born in 1854 in Cooma, NSW14 and died in 1939 in Randwick, NSW15 at age 85.

   F    vi. Adela B Curtis was born in 1856 in Queanbeyan, NSW16 and died in 1859 in Queanbeyan, NSW17 at age 3.

   M    vii. Edwin Frances Curtis was born in 1862 in Queanbeyan, NSW,18 died on January 17, 1902 in Cooma, NSW19 at age 40, and was buried in Mittagang Cemetery, Cooma, NSW Grave 137.

Second Generation


2. Lucy Jane Curtis (Peter1) was born in 1854 in Cooma, NSW14 and died in 1939 in Randwick, NSW15 at age 85.

Lucy married David O'Rourke, son of Thomas Rourke and Margaret Carlon, in 1879 in Cooma, NSW.20 David was born in 1838 in Bolairo near Cooma, NSW and died in 1915 in Sydney, NSW21 at age 77.

Notes: DAVID O'ROURKE was a son of Thomas ,O'Rourke of Bolairo, and was born in the district of Cooma in 1838. At the age of fifteen years he became Manager for his father, who was then engaged in pastoral pursuits. After an eventful period of successive changes in different enterprises he, after in 1883 being Licensee of The Australian Hotel in Sharp Street, acquired in 1884 a storekeeping business on the corner of Sharp and Vale Streets. In this he was later joined by Mr. Willmott, to whom he subsequently sold his interests. He then purchased the License of the Royal Hotel from Mrs. Gracie.
Besides this, many other occupations engaged his time and capital, notably gold and silver mining. He was one of the original mining prospectors of the district. Mr. O'Rourke was one of the first aldermen for the municipality, and was elected to the office of Mayor in 1881, 1884 and 1887. He was one of the vice-presidents of the Ploughing, Agricultural and Pastoral Association of Monaro, and was Deputy Sheriff at the opening of the Court House in 1888.

   F    ii. Clara May O'Rourke was born in 1881 in Cooma, NSW24 and died in 1956 in Petersham, NSW25 at age 75.

   F    iii. Lucy Maud O'Rourke was born in 1882 in Cooma, NSW26 and died in 1938 in Randwick, NSW27 at age 56.

   F    iv. Minnie Cecily O'Rourke was born in 1891 in Cooma, NSW28 and died on April 23, 1967 in St Leonards, NSW29 at age 76.

Minnie married David Burke in 1921 in Waverley, NSW.30

Third Generation


3. Adela Lillian O'Rourke (Lucy Jane Curtis2, Peter1) was born in 1880 in Cooma, NSW22 and died on September 1, 1957 in Gordon, NSW23 at age 77.

Adela married James Joseph Rynn, son of John Rynn and Mary Cullinan, in 1905 in Sydney, NSW.31 James was born in 1881 in Sydney, NSW32 and died in 1939 in Chatswood, NSW33 at age 58.

Children from this marriage were:

   F    i. Mary Lucy Aileen Rynn was born in 1906 in Sydney, NSW34 and died on November 30, 1977 in Gordon, NSW35 at age 71.

   M    ii. John David Rynn was born on May 10, 1907 in Sydney, NSW36 and died on October 26, 1985 in Gordon, NSW at age 78.

• He served in the military as a Lance Sergeant, number NX136051 (N170670), 30 AUSTRALIAN INFANTRY BATTALION, Australian Army from October 30, 1942 to February 14, 1946 in WW2.
