COLINTON

Proclamation: Saturday 5th January 1861

From - The Golden Age Saturday 16th February 1861.

A sale of crown lands was held at the court-house on Saturday last, when some of allotments at the new township of Colinton, on Collyer's creek, situated about 27 miles from Cooma on the Queanbeyan road, met with a ready sale at little over the upset price. There is no prospect of this township for a long time to come arriving at anything like importance; I therefore don't envy the holders of these allotments. Had the road traffic continued to be as good as when the diggings first commenced, this ground would no doubt have brought a much higher price.
