He was married at age 23, his haystack near Bungendore was possibly burnt by his brother in law Thomas or father in law Thomas when John was age 37 3 March 1864 Source - Goulburn Herald March 1864. and he stole sheep from Michael Flynn at age 57 on 2 Feb 1885 - source Ms FM Upton (not confirmed officially). This is unclear why, he did not have young children to support etc. NOTE: Daughter Catherine married William Flynn in 1892 parents Thomas Flynn and Julia Walsh. Thomas Lawless son of John Lawless & Sophia Thompson married William's sister Julia.

A very old resident of this districts, Mr J Byron, senr, died at his residence, ?Neill?s Creek,? on Friday afternoon last. The cause of death was senile decay. He leaves
an aged widow and a large family of sons and daughters all grown up. The funeral,
which took place on Sunday afternoon was largely attended. The Rev Father O?Driscoll officiated at the grave. The deceased was over 80 years of age and had lived in this district of 50 years.

Late on friday night or early the following morning, a stack of wheat belonging to John Byron residing near Bungendore was burned to the ground as is supposed by an incendiary. A man named Thomas Haylen has been taken on suspicion and has been forwarded to Queanbeyan for examination.

Dr. Morton, coroner of the district has held an inquest on the fire which lately occurred at Byron's near Bungendore, and a verdict has been returned that there is no cause to show how the fire originated. The accused Haylen has been liberated on his own recognisances to appear within a month further to answer if necessary.

Brother Thomas Heylin ? Maiden name spelt as Heylin on husband's death cert by son William. According to Greville's 1872 Post Office Dirtectory, there was a Thomas Heylin farming at Poor Man's Hollow at Bathurst. A Thomas Haylen was accused of burning John Byron's wheat stack in 1864 (source Goulburn Herald 2 March 1864 & 12 March 1864).l

She didn't lose any children while alive and saw all their weddings. There was a 10 year gap between last two children but even a possible jail scentence for her husband does not explain this gap.

HMS Success was built in Moulmein, Burma in 1840. By 1849 she was working in the Australian emigrant trade where she was abandoned at the time of the Victorian gold rush. She was for a period a receiving prison ship in Hobson's Bay Victoria and almost ended her days scuttled in Port Jackson in 1885 but was later raised, re rigged and exhibited fraudulently as a convict transport claimed to be 100 years old when in fact she was only 50. In this capacity she visited Australian, British and US ports, her owners capitalising on public interest in the colonial era and her authentic east indiaman style of construction. The durable burmese teak hull survived into this century until vandals set her alight on 4 July 1946 at Port Clinton, Ohio.

The death has been reported to the Coroner of Mrs Byron a resident of Neill?s Creek between Hoskingtown and Bungendore. As she was of the advanced age of 85 and had been long an invalid, the Coroner, satisfied that the death was from natural causes, issued his order for burial, dispensing with an inquiry.

she said,"I am:"I said"Ihave a warrant for your arrest;She said.What's that for?I said "For perjury:were you at Captains Flat on 20th November last?She said she was:Isaid,Did you give evidence in the Police court ther on that date?she said,Yes:She made no reply when the warrant was read.

Two Queanbeyan men were injured last night when the vechicle in which they were travelling was involved in a collision on the Federal Highway,near Sutton.
